Hi everyone!
Welcome to Day 1 of a blog/social media hop for Martingale's newest compilation book,
MIX IT UP.
16 quilts from 16 designers. Compiled by Lissa Alexander.
Here is my quilt, Step it Up
...in the book
...with Cake Mix Recipe 8
...on the guest bed
...sideways, the way I think I will hang it.
For my quilt I used one Cake Mix Recipe 8 and a total of 26 - 10" squares of assorted cream prints and a total of 26 - 10" squares of red, indigo, and brown prints from all my collections for Moda.
My best tip for sewing...put the light fabric on top under the cake mix paper. After cutting the parts apart, press to the dark print with the paper on.
This keeps your half square triangles nice and square. Then, remove the paper.
I really enjoyed selecting the fabrics for this quilt and equally enjoyed sewing the cream prints to the dark prints with the papers. Arranging the rows was fun and I think you can see that substituting other colors or, including more colors would be just at good looking. I will be using this quilt a lot throughout the year, as it fits in perfectly with my decorating scheme. I LOVE this quilt.
I hope you like Step it Up and the others in the MIX IT UP book! Each and every one is wonderful, designed by very talented quilters.
Would you like a chance to win a prize from me and each of the participants?

I love to mix up a Cherry Berry salad for our holiday meals. I’m guessing your least favorite is yams (that’s mine)!?!
ReplyDeleteLove the book and your quilt! I love to mix up dressing for the holidays and im guessing yams aren't your favorite!
DeleteThis is cutest quilt! I love making sweet potatoes/candies yams for Thanksgiving, but I know not everyone is a fan!
ReplyDeleteI love mixing up a tangy spicey cranberry salsa to go with our turkey, also experimenting with various add-ins to the stuffing. Im guessing you might not care for green bean casserole?
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite to make (and to eat!) is cranberry salad! I’m going to guess your least favorite is candied yams, the kind with marshmallows. I like sweet potato casserole but not candied yams!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dish to whip up for Thanksgiving dinner is Raw Cranberry Salad. I take two bags of fresh cranberries and shred them in my food processor , I add sugar and let set over night in refrigerator. On Thanksgiving Morn I add drained crushed pineapple , and stir in Fresh whipping cream I whipped with my mixer. This salad always has a place at our table. I do not care for making candied yams, I can guess that maybe they are a dish you are not fond of either. Your fabric collections are beautiful and I cannot wait to get my hands on your book. Blessed Holidays to you
ReplyDeleteFavorite thing to mix up is yummy salads -- they are always family favorites for their variety ... and your least favorite could be sweet potatoes! What an awesome giveaway and Happy Holidays to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is Broccoli Orange Salad. Yum!! I am guessing your least favorite is creamed spinach.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! I would love to make this quilt. I always bake my pecan pie recipe that my husband loves. I guess getting up early to start the turkey and all the meal preparation is is your least favorite part of Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI usually bake leg of lamb instead of turkey or ham. Everyone loves it and easy to cook. I'm going to guess your least favorite dish is green bean casserole. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI love mixing up the pies. Obviously pumpkin is on the menu (Husband request) and then something else -- cherry, apple, pecan, lemon meringue ... you name it. I'm thinking your least might be the gravy????
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up for Thanksgiving is the dressing I’m guessing your least favorite is cranberries ♀️ I love recipe 8 ❤️
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mixup is sweet potato casserole! My mom was one to open a can of yams..pour in some maple syrup and add some marshmallows. It took an awful long time for me to like a starch that was orange in color! So for family that still likes a little sweet with that potato...I give some cinnamon, brown sugar, other spices, pecans and toast those on top. I am going to guess that maybe the least favorite dish would be corn casserole (creamed corn with crackers, eggs, milk, bread crumbs on top). Happy (Gobble Gobble Day) Thanksgiving! Many Thankful Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in Sarah story! Thank You!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is pumpkin pie. I bet you are not find of Brussels sprouts.
ReplyDeleteI like to mix up a pumpkin pie! Thank you, peterstankovich@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteI love to make pumpkin rolls. I am guessing you do not like peeling potatoes.
ReplyDeleteMy Favorite Dish to Mix Up is the Dressing! We love the Turkey Gravy over the Dressing, but I'd guess you don't care for the Gravy part?
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU !
sweet potato pie, my husband loves them
ReplyDeleteLove to make a favorite of cranberry jello with cranberries, pineapple and sour cream. Taking a guess that you may not like dressing. Your quilt is beautiful!!
ReplyDeletemy Favorite Thanksgiving side dish is: Cranberry Fluff! Marshmellows Whipped Cream Chopped Cranberries!
ReplyDeleteI love mixing up Company Potatoes (hashbrown casserole sometimes called Funeral Potatoes) for the holiday. I think you don't like mixing up the dressing (or stuffing) for the turkey!
ReplyDeleteSandy A
I like baking a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving. I'm guessing you don't like mixing up dressing?? Your quilt is wonderful with all those small hst's :0)
ReplyDeleteI make lemon self saucing pudding which can be served hot or cold. Love the HST`s in this lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteMixing up pumpkin & pecan pies are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI love my stepmoms fruit salad. It has all kinds of fruit along with cottage cheese, cream cheese and whipped topping. It's best after it sets overnight. Definitely not for the calorie conscious. But it is delicious.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite mto mix up at Thanksgiving is dressing (turkey and gravy)! I think your least favorite is sweet potatoes. At any rate, I can't wait to stuff myself.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt and your fabric. So beautiful
ReplyDeleteIt's been fun to read all of the replies! I never once have had sweet potato pie or casserole. I guess it isn't a Canadian thing?!? I love to make the turkey because I love to EAT the turkey! I'm guessing that your least favourite thing to make is the turkey and you make your hubby take care of it! Thanks for this chance and your quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love making dressing. Actually I love everything about making Thanksgiving dinner. What I don’t love is the bag of ugh they stuff into the bird. Could that be what you don’t love?
ReplyDeleteI love mixing the turkey, dressing and gravy together after Thanksgiving to make hot, open faced sandwiches. Fabrics are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love making cornbread stuffing with sausage and apples in it. I'm betting you don't like that jellied cranberry sauce out of a can.
ReplyDeleteI love mixing up the mashed potatoes and gravy most likely because it is my favorite thing to eat! I am guessing g your least favorite thing to make is the stuffing. Love your beautiful collaboration. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteI love mixing up the pies- apple, pumpkin, pecan, as well as the cheesy corn that my nieces and nephew love. I’m guessing that you don’t like the traditional green bean casserole much! We don’t serve that at our house:)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to whip up used to be the pumpkin pies, but since I discovered the huge ones at Costco, why bother? Leaves me more time to sew! I'm guessing your least favorite is the green bean casserole!
ReplyDeleteI had a Thanksgiving baby so that is my all time favorite thing to have "mixed up". My dad fed him pumpkin pie the next day so that is my next favorite. Pumpkin pie is Turkey Boy's favorite part of Thanksgiving also. I imagine you take great pride in your sweet potatoes, maybe mashed with pecans, coconut, and maple syrup. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI love to make candied yams from scratch rather than just opening a can. Not sure what to guess for you, maybe making the gravy. That always seems like a challenge to get right at our house.
ReplyDeleteI whip up my grandma's cranberry jello salad each Thanksgiving. It's full of chunky cranberries, pineapple, apples, and pecans--tastes like autumn! I'm guessing you don't care for Stuffing inside the turkey. That was our family tradition until I became the cook. ;) Now, that stuffing is baked in its own casserole dish. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is home backed beans. I suspect your least favourite might be pumpkin pie? Thanks
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is fresh cranberry relish. The turkey just isn't the same without it. I'm going to guess you don't like stuffing which I like to eat all year long.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing is getting the Turkey ready for my husband to do on the Weber Charcoal grill. It turns out every time he makes it. It has a great Smokey taste, and browns up so nice. Doing this leaves me more room for the oven fixings...and yes I do make the green bean casserole because my oldest son loves it...me..not so much. Everyone have a Blessed Thanksgiving! We all have so much to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing is dressing. My home recipe. Guessing what you don't care about - green beans casserole (that is my least favorite item).
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is Spicy Chex Mix snack!! I think your least favorite is candied yams!
ReplyDeleteSusie
Love everything you do, and this quilt is just perfect. I look forward to making one just like it, and would love to win the giveaway. I bet it's the green bean casserole that is your least favorite...it is my least favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love to mix up my mother's cranberry salad for Thanksgiving -- simple ingredients, fresh cranberries, sugar, pecans, marshmallows and Cool Whip! I'll bet you don't like sweet potatoes -- my husband hates them!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up for Thanksgiving are desserts! I always make something they normally like, like cherry cheesecake tarts and i like to try something new. Last year i made a pumpkin trifle and they loved it. I am guessing your least favorite is sweet potato pie!
ReplyDeleteFor Thanksgiving, cranberries are a must. A very elegant twist that is a favorite of mine and the family is poached pears in cranberries. I used bosc pears, cook the cranberries as usual. The pears are peeled and halved. Sautee the pears gently on low is the cranberry sauce. I arrange them on a fancy plate, pouring the cranberry sauce over the pears. The whole family just thinks it's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBut, I imagine you like don't like the clean up.
You can't beat Turkey and Cheesecake - but not on the same plate! Not sure about your least favorite
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful. My favorite mix-up for Thanksgiving is pecan pie. I'm guessing that your least favorite is deviled egg.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is our family tradition ——oyster dressing! But I’ll bet your least favorite if green bean casserole—also a Thanksgiving favorite in many families.
ReplyDeleteMy face thing to mix up is an apple crumb pie, either regular or gluten free, depending on whether my daughter who has Celuac Disease will be eating it. Gorgeous quilt!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite and very easy item that is so quick to prepare is spiced pecans...they are great for a quick fix of protein and sugar if the family is having to wait for dinner to be ready and at the table. My guess is you may not be a deviled egg fan....many people are not, but once they taste mine they change their minds. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. We all have so very much for which we are grateful.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, my favorite thing to mix up for Thanksgiving dinner are my pecan pies!! My guess for your least favorite is all that chopping for homemade stuffing.
ReplyDeleteI love to make carrot casserole! It is similar to sweet potato casserole but a bit lighter. When we first tried it, everyone loved it and we haven't had a family holiday meal without it. I'm guessing that you aren't a fan of brussel sprouts.....My daughter in law makes the best brussel sprout dish with bacon, cranberries, pine nuts....it is sooo good!!! My birthday is tomorrow---I'd LOVE to win this bundle!!
ReplyDeleteMy fave is chopping up a cranberry fruit relish vs the canned cranberry sauce. I'm guessing yours is stuffing the turkey.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving dinner always includes these favorites—pumpkin pie from fresh pumpkin, homemade cranberry sauce, and candied sweet potatoes. Sometimes homemade hot rolls. I am guessing you don’t like to make pie crust.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your Step it Up quilt! I can't wait to get my hands on the book and make it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things to make for Thanksgiving are cranberry jello salad and cheese cake. Not sure what your least favorite might be, maybe sweet potato casserole?
Thanksgiving means turkey, mashed spuds, yams, cranberry sauce, whatever veggie most of the people there like, slad, and pies - pecan and coconut creme. And if the coconut cream doesn't turn out like it should have, there is always pumpkin pie. My guess is you don't like pumpkin pie.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to make for Thanksgiving is candied yams - plenty of brown sugar and butter, and no marshmallows involved! Also pumpkin pie (I do cheat and use pre-made pie crusts). I don't know what your least favorite thing would be - green bean casserole?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up for Thanksgiving is a bread pudding recipe I have been using for a long time- its just gives another dessert to choice from along with pumpkin and mince pies
ReplyDeleteMy favorite mix it up is my family stuffing/dressing recipe. Even if I just make it for a small group it's so worth all the effort and the wonderful fragrance in the house. I LOVE your pattern....it's been on my mind for sometime!
ReplyDeleteMy family's "must have" fix-it-up is left over wild rice and left over stuffing. We eat early afternoon and the aforesaid combo is mandatory for the evening meal. Stumped on what may not be on your favorite list - maybe brussel sprouts? Would love to get that gorgeous fabric - a guaranteed winner no matter what quilt it would bevused in!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is stuffing, bread cubes, seasoning, lots of butter, then baked in a pan, not in the bird. My husband doesn’t like it, so Thanksgiving is the only time I have it. I’m guessing that pie crust is your least favorite thing to make. (Love your new fabric line.)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing is a casserole using rice, broccoli and cheese whiz. I only get it on Thanksgiving, so calories are forgiven! Love the book and your fabrics! Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is a seven layer salad! Never the same seven ingredients!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is making pies. We live on an apple orchard so there are a great variety! Perhaps you don’t like Cream corn? My grandmother’s was the best!
ReplyDeleteI collect your fabric & love this new line.
First, love your quilt! I love making Candied Sweet Potatoes! Your least favorite might be squash!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is great mashed potatoes and wonderful fresh cranberry-orange sauce. Your least favorite might be candied sweet potatoes.
ReplyDeleteI love mixing up my chocolate merengue pies and I bet you dread all the prep work for your dressing!! I hate all that chopping myself. Great giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to make is sweet potato souffle. I'm guessing your least favorite is making pie crust.
ReplyDeleteI love using the cake mixes. I was given some last year and fell in love.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Thanksgiving “mix” is food and family! Your least favorite might be the dressing!!
ReplyDeleteMy thing is the decorating the table, I have learned to do a pretty good pineapple upside down cake, baked in a cast iron pan. I imagine you might not be fond of clean up.
ReplyDeleteI love to mix up either pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting or pumpkin cheesecake. I'm going to guess your least favorite is sweet potatoes, because that's what I like the least.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is sweet potato casserole with pecan topping! I'm going to guess that your least favorite dish is stuffing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Orange Jello Pretzel Salad. I'm thinking your least favorite is green bean casserole. Love your Step It Up quilt. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your Step it Up quilt - it's a winner! My favorite thing to mix up is my mom's Sticky Cinnamon Buns. Not sure all the relatives would come without them. I'm guessing your least favorite is the mess left in the kitchen at the end!
ReplyDeleteLove your new book!! My favorite thing to mix up is homemade egg noodles. A great side to the turkey, gravy, and potatoes. I'm guessing your least favorite is fruitcake (?) Thanks for the fun giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is the gravy and I'm guessing that your least favorite is candied yams. This is a very generous giveaway, thanks.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous! I enjoy mixin' up a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dinner. I'm guessing you don't like Brussels sprouts.
ReplyDeleteA favorite at our Thanksgiving is rice pilaf made with turkey broth. So rich and so good! I think green bean casseroles have had their day and thats one you don't like.
ReplyDeleteI love Thanksgiving! The smells and food. I love making a safe dressing with giblets, mashed rutabegas with bacon, pecan pie and, of course, traditional pumpkin. PLUS next day leftovers. My guess is you probably don't like making the gravy. That is always the last minute challenge. Have not used Cake Mix Recipe, love the idea and your quilt!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I have a favorite to make. But my Gram, who still makes a great feast at 99, was determined to put a chicken, in a duck, in a turkey about 6 years ago! It's our favorite Thanksgiving story!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful. Thank you for your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is the Pumpkin Pie and I think your least favorite is Dressing.
I like to bake, but do not like to cook, so I make lots of goodies for Thanksgiving, my favorite being a cherry cobbler. I think your least favorite thing to make is turkey.
ReplyDeletebestbelle2010@aol.com
Half square triangles! They have so many great uses. Love LOVE that sky blue in the upcoming collection. Favorite to make--dessert! Your least favorite? Stuffing?
ReplyDeleteI like to mix up a pineapple cake. I'm guessing your least favorite is squash.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Thanksgiving in the UK so i will tell you my favourite part of the Christmas dinner which is pigs in blankets, i.e. sausages wrapped in bacon. I am guessing that your least favourite part could be sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows. Thank you for a great giveaway. x
ReplyDeleteI love to make my grandmother's pumpkin pie recipe. It's more like a pumpkin custard and is really yummy. I also like to set the table with things that belonged to my mother and grandmothers. It makes me feel as if they're there with us. Maybe your least
ReplyDeletefavorite is the stuffing?
I love your quilt and fabrics, it looks so cozy. My favorite thing to mix up are my pumpkin pies. I use very special pie plates that have been in the family for at least 100 years. I think your least favorite thing to mix up is the cranberry sauce.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite and expected contribution is Pecan Pie, a family recipe from Tanta Anna. I actually tried to bring a very delicious store-bought replacement one very busy year and still have not been able to live it down. Perhaps yours is something like the main ingredient, the Turkey, due to all the prep time that takes us away from our quilting.
ReplyDeleteWe have been invited to a friends house for Thanksgiving for years and they always ask that I bring deviled eggs. Somehow mine taste different from anyone else's. My least favorite dinner side is green bean casserole. I believe it's an acquired taste.
ReplyDeleteI love to make an apple cranberry salad using the recipe my husband's grandma gave me many years ago.
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of cornbread dressing. It's the one side dish that seems to pull the dinner together.
ReplyDeleteWe’ve embraced a “new” tradition of making a mix up of veggies, fruits, meats and cheese platter in the shape of a turkey. This is typically made just before dinner time with the grandchildren who’ll gladly participate. Family, food, memories to savor - just like quilts. Yours is rich and tastefully done. Thank you for sharing and the chance.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving too!
I enjoy making the pies and the stuffing for Thanksgiving. To me, the turkey can be one of the most problematic parts, so I am guessing it might be yours as well. The other possibility would be mashed potatoes -- so much peeling, large steaming pot, and last minute mashing!
ReplyDeleteA pumpkin cake is my favorite, maybe because a favorite aunt brought the recipe into our family. Perhaps your least favorite is cleaning closely followed by sweet potatoes (which is my guess because I don't like them).
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is appealing. I used my first cake mix this summer and am in the process of assembling the blocks.
Connie
I just enjoy the process of making yeast rolls for the feast. My new twist on them is using sweet potatoes in the mix. It gives such a pretty soft color. I'm betting you don't like making gravy.
ReplyDeleteIf I’m cooking it’s a pecan pie as that’s the hubby’s favorite pie. If we are guests it’s whatever is requested. I have 2 guesses for your least favorite. 1 is prepping the turkey. Getting that bag of innards out & any last pieces of ice plus the rinsing. Suddenly that turkey can be a slippery fellow. 2nd is cleaning & picking up the house for company above what is normally done & ironing that tablecloth.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is planning and getting ready for the day our family gets together. Then it is always over so quickly, oh no! I'll let someone else make the pumpkin pie--not my favorite. Your least favorite thing is most likely the pumpkin pie also!
ReplyDeleteI make my mother's recipe for pumpkin pie, my favorite with whipped cream! Maybe your least favorite is the green bean casserole, I know that is my least favorite!
ReplyDeleteMy fave to mix-up is my mom's sweet potato casserole--always a hit. I'm thinking your least fave mix-up is the stuffing/dressing? Looks like a great book and a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy eating homemade coleslaw with apple in it-one of my favourites. I will guess that your least favourite thing to make is dressing for the turkey-not my favourite.
ReplyDeleteMy mix it up is ....Cole slaw. From my MIL, my husband is not sure a turkey dinner is good without it. My guess for your least fave......sweet potato casserole.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite mix it up is Cranberries in the Snow. I don't normally care for cranberries, but this recipe is made with jello and has a cream cheese, marshmallow creme topping...to die for!! I'm guessing your least favorite is green been casserole!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love Step It Up! I enjoy mixing up Apple and Pecan Dressing and everyone in the fam seems to enjoy it. It is a lot of work however - lots of chopping, etc. - so perhaps you don't enjoy mixing up dressing? Happy Thanksgiving to you!
ReplyDeleteLove the cake mix papers! I've got a great recipe for a chocolate bundt cake stuffed with cream cheese & icing sugar in the middle, drizzled with cherries all around. I would guess stuffing the turkey is your least favorite - it certainly is mine!
ReplyDeletebasaran.family (at) rogers (dot) com
Love all parts of thanksgiving. Hope not to eat too much
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! And this is such a generous giveaway offer - wow! For years, our family has enjoyed making Savannah Casserole -- a mix of steamed broccoli, carrots, and onions, topped with a cream cheese sauce and pecans. So good : ) Is peeling all the butternut squash your least favorite thing to do?
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! My favorite thing to make ( please don't gag!) is the giblet gravy. It brings back memories of my sweet mom and her Thanksgiving dinners. She was a great cook. Could your least favorite thing to do be cleaning house for the holiday? I know it's mine. I could be sewing!
ReplyDeleteNancy
You are an old soulful quilting wonder! Sew luv how you make your old seem super new, Would be blessed to be ome super lucky winner.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt and especially your beautiful fabric lines!!! We don't celebrate Thanksgiving like you do over there but what I really like this time of the year is a creamy pumpkin soup with carrots and ginger, served with a little grape seed oil! Mmmmmh delicious! I can't imagine what your least favorite is - well, my least favorite thing to do is doing the dishes! Maybe you agree 😂😂😂! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
ReplyDeleteI love to make sweet & savory stuffing for our turkey. My mix includes apples and a bit of mild Italian sausage. Can't wait to get my hands on a supply of your new fabric when it becomes available in my LQS. It's GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, my favorite dish to make at Thanksgiving is the stuffing for the turkey. I use my dad's recipe and everyone loves it. This may be your least favorite dish, only you know!!! I love your quilt, red, blue and backgrounds are one of my favorite combinations. This one will be on my to do list for sure. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt, Betsy! Dramatic finish, but easy enough to work on a bit at a time. My favorite thing to mix up at Thanksgiving is the dressing/stuffing. One year I made a recipe using White Castle sliders, and last year I made some chipotle concoction that everyone loved (but now I can’t remember how I did it!). I’m going to guess that cooking is your least favorite part of Thanksgiving.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up for Thanksgiving is carameled Sweet potatoes.
ReplyDeleteYour least favorite thing might be stuffing.
My favorite thing to mix up at Thanksgiving is the fresh cranberry sauce. I found a recipe a few years ago and it is now a favorite. Hmmm, your least favorite. Maybe the job of picking the turkey carcass clean? Or the need to rise extra early to get the turkey cooking?
ReplyDeleteI love to mix up stuffing or dressing depending on where you are from in the country. Just ripping the bread and adding spices to it is just fun to me. Your least favorite to eat, scalloped oysters?
ReplyDeleteI love to mix up stuffing or dressing depending on where you are from in the country. Just ripping the bread and adding spices to it is just fun to me. Your least favorite to eat, scalloped oysters? Least favorite to do is put turkey in oven and then clean off carcass at end of meal
ReplyDeleteI like to mix up pumpkin pie and I'm guessing your least favorite is cranberry sauce
ReplyDeleteIt's tradition in our family to mix up a handed down recipe over the generations of a cranberry nut pound cake. Everyone loves it. My least favorite is the green bean casserole!!
ReplyDeleteI mix up a pecan pie with a little chocolate on top. A family favorite. Your least favorite thing might be making the gravy! It's hard to get it just right.
ReplyDeleteyoyopattycakes at hotmail dot com
I love everything about cooking Thanksgiving dinner! My favorite though is the dessert-pumpkin and pecan pies! A wild guess as to your least fav---the stuffing??? My least fav is peeling potatoes for the mashed potatoes. Your quilt and fabric are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite things to make is the stuffing - love the smell of the seasoning simmering in the melted butter.
ReplyDeleteA wild guess as to your least favorite - cleaning and getting the turkey ready?
I have a wonderful recipe that I found in a Better Homes & Garden magazine several years ago for Vegetarian Cornbread Dressing. My family loves it and we always make a double batch so there is plenty for the day after. Of course who doesn't love the mashed potatoes and gravy. Thanksgiving dinner is such a wonderful treat and I am thankful to be blessed with my beautiful family.
ReplyDeletei love mixing up pumpkin pie. i guess you don't like mixing up the turkey and dressing and cleaning up after dinner.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to mix up is my mother's pumpkin pie recipe. I imagine your least favorite thing would be the cleanup after a big dinner. I love your quilt It's so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy mix up is the people, family + old friends + new friends, to share the day. You're dislike? Grocery shopping for all the ingredients, coping with long lines at checkout.
ReplyDeleteOH, my gosh! I would so LOVE to win the book and your beautiful fabric. Please include me in your drawing. My favorite thing to "mix up" is homemade apple pie. I would guess your least favorite is pie. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite mix in is a cranberry and grape salad. I'm going to guess your least favorite mix in is mincemeat pie.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win your drawing. My favorite mix is making the pumpkin roll for dessert. Your least favorite mix might be the cleanup afterwards.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Thanksgiving in the UK. But I make a US friend's mother's Pecan Pie recipe to serve on Boxing Day - the day after Christmas - whenwe mix friends and neighbours for a simple lunch.
ReplyDeleteLove baking pies...mince meat and pumpkin. Least favorite is green bean casserole.
ReplyDeleteI love Mom's yams. Butter skillet, peel and slice or cube garnet yams into skillet. Add brown sugar and a little water, cover and cook til done and sugar makes a syrup. I'm guessing you like apple pie or cobbler?
ReplyDeleteSorry, thought it said feast favorite. I am on a small tablet. Mincemeat pie¿
DeleteMy favorite is pork sausage stuffing. The is no bread. I bet that you don’t like cranberries.
ReplyDeleteI like to make pumpkin pie cake. Way better than pie! I'm guessing that your least favorite is cranberry sauce.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite to mix up for T-day is stuffing for our bird (a chicken for the two of us). And I'll bet that's your least favorite part of the feast!
ReplyDeleteI love cranberry salad, but dressing am not really good at and gravy, I rather forget about it!!. I think your least favorite is brussels sprouts!!
ReplyDeleteI love to make sausage and sage dressing, YUM! If I were you, I would not like brussel sprouts or a jello mold!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite mix it up is my cranapple lattice top pie. All my family love it. Your least favorite might be that awful green bean casserole! Love your quilt and fabrics!
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me say I don't really enjoy cooking. So when I learned how easy fresh cranberry sauce was to make, I would consider that a favorite. These lips will not touch canned sauce again. I'm guessing your least favorite (like mine) is yams and/or sweet potatoes.
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. I am guessing you don't like cranberry sauce at your Thanksgiving. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love mixing up a green salad with dried cranberries and basil dressing. I’m guessing you don’t care for stuffing/dressing...?
